Planning your dream photoshoot is an exciting milestone, and one of the most common questions we receive is: “When should we book?” This article is here to guide you through that process. To officially reserve a date with us, we kindly request an advance payment, after which we issue a formal receipt confirming your booking. Unfortunately, without this advance, we cannot consider a booking as confirmed, no matter how early the discussion begins.
The good news? We keep your investment flexible and client-friendly. Our maternity sessions are fully refundable in case of any medical emergency, and for all other photoshoot types, the advance is 100% adjustable—you may reschedule to a different date or even switch to a different type of session if needed. Your peace of mind is just as important to us as your beautiful photographs.

Q: When should I book my maternity session?
If you love our maternity work (and we hope you do!), it’s always a good idea to book us as soon as you feel comfortable about going forward with the shoot. Many clients delay booking because they wait for the bump to grow — but those perfect moments pass quickly. The good news? Maternity sessions are 100% refundable on medical grounds, so you have nothing to lose by booking early and everything to gain. Q: What about newborn photography? When should I book?
Ah, the most delicate of all! Newborn sessions have the shortest window. The ideal time is within the first month, and to ensure availability, the best thing you can do is tentatively book during your pregnancy. We completely understand that cultural or personal reasons might delay the final booking — and that’s okay! A verbal confirmation helps us keep your slot in mind.
Once your baby arrives, contact us immediately. If your baby is less than two weeks old, book as soon as possible. Delays here often mean we won’t be able to accommodate you due to our limited calendar. Sadly, we’ve had many parents miss out just because they waited a few days too long. Q: When should I book a sitter session?
Sitter sessions are some of the most fun! But when your baby can sit varies greatly. We’ve done them for babies as young as 6 months and as old as 6 years — seriously!
Technically, the only requirement is that your baby can sit unassisted. Our sweet spot is 10-11 months, when they sit confidently but haven’t started walking. Some parents want photos of standing babies, and while we don’t recommend it, we get it — in that case, aim for around 13-14 months.

Q: What about rice ceremony photoshoots?
This one is straightforward — and all in your hands. Once the date is fixed (or even if it’s tentatively known), book us immediately.
We’ve had clients lock in their rice ceremony shoot on the day of their newborn session! Since this event is tightly tied to a date, our availability becomes a major factor. Booking early not only ensures our presence but also locks in the current price in case of future revisions.
Just for your reference – We’ve had situations where, unfortunately, we had to turn away even repeat clients simply because they were late in finalizing their bookings. This has happened quite some times. Our policy is clear: we can only take one booking per day. Whoever reserves their slot first by securing the booking with the advance payment is the one who gets the date. As much as we’d love to accommodate everyone, once a date is booked, it’s no longer available for others.”

Q: When should I book for a first birthday shoot?
Same logic as rice ceremony. Most of our repeat clients book 6-7 months in advance once they decide to go ahead with a celebration. Booking early guarantees our availability and locks in pricing.

Q: What about themed birthday celebrations?
Now we’re talking showstopper! Themed birthday photoshoots are one of our most cherished offerings—and if you’ve ever dreamt of a pastel balloon forest, a birthday vacation at the bay, a tiny jungle explorer, or a magical cake smash, this one’s for you.
We strongly recommend doing these during your baby’s first or second birthday. After this age, babies become more aware of their surroundings and can get camera-conscious or anxious with elaborate setups. So, the earlier the better!
Unlike event coverage, this isn’t bound to the actual birthday date. Most parents prefer to have the shoot 3-4 weeks before the birthday so they can share the photos online, use them on invites, or even print décor.
Also, cake smashes are the star of the show for themed shoots, and we request that parents arrange the cake themselves—we’ll help you with references and designs that photograph beautifully.
